NKL top team - Pieno Zvaigzdes (29-1) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat sixth ranked LKKA-Atletas (17-13) in Kaunas 89-77. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-77. Pieno Zvaigzdes dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to LKKA-Atletas' 32 and made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Pieno Zvaigzdes forced 22 LKKA-Atletas turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Darius Griskenas (194-84) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). American guard Darrick Leonard (188-84, college: Aurora) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Guard Sarunas Vingelis (192-89) produced 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Vidmantas Sragauskis (200-86) added 21 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Pieno Zvaigzdes and four LKKA-Atletas players scored in double figures. LKKA-Atletas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
