Regular Season Round 20: Zalgiris - Sakalai 95-48

LKL top team - Zalgiris (15-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Sakalai (4-11) in Kaunas 95-48. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Sakalai's 32 and made 18-of-20 charity shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Zalgiris forced 24 Sakalai turnovers and outrebounded them 31-19 including a 24-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by American guard DeJuan Collins (188-76, college: Tuskegee) who scored that evening 15 points and 7 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and international guard Martynas Pocius (196-86, college: Duke, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 16 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Five Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Even 9 points by swingman Virginijus Sirvydis (196-73) did not help to save the game for Sakalai. Center Rolandas Matulis (199-73) added 7 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zalgiris have an impressive 15-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 15-0 record. Sakalai lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 11 games lost. Zalgiris will play against Neptunas (#9) in Klaipeda in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sakalai's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Vilnius to the arena Lietuvos Rytas.
