Fourteenth-ranked USC Freiburg (5-14) was very close to win a game against seventh ranked Saar-Pfalz Braves (11-7) in Homburg on Sunday. Saar-Pfalz Braves managed to secure only three-point victory 79-76. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of USC Freiburg. The hosts trailed by 12 points at the halftime before their 54-39 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. USC Freiburg was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Jamar Nutter (188-84, college: Seton Hall) answered with 18 points and 4 assists and the other American import guard Paul Gause (180-86, college: Seton Hall) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for USC Freiburg. USC Freiburg's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Saar-Pfalz Braves. They moved-up to fifth place. Loser USC Freiburg keeps the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. Saar-Pfalz Braves will face Kirchheim Knights (#6) on the road in the next round. USC Freiburg will play against USC Heidelberg (#9).
