Seventh-ranked Vaerlose (8-14) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Svendborg (19-2) on Sunday. The visitors from Svendborg managed to secure only four-point victory 90-86. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game in overtime by 4 points. 29 personal fouls committed by Vaerlose helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Nicolai Iversen (205-80, college: San Jose City JC, agency: Rasmussen Services) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds. The former international guard Adama Darboe (190-86, agency: Rasmussen Services) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Bonell Colas (205-82, college: Florida) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks and Senegalese power forward Pape Ba (207-80, college: Bethune-Cookman) added 17 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Vaerlose. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Svendborg have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 19-2 record having just three points less than leader Bakken. Newly promoted Vaerlose keeps the seventh place with 14 games lost. Svendborg are looking forward to face Horsholm (#4) on the road in the next round. Vaerlose will play against Horsens IC in Horsens and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
