No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Mykolaiv (16-15) beat at home bottom-ranked BC Kyiv (8-23) 68-59 on Friday. BC Kyiv trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 16-14 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 59-68 at the end of the game. Mykolaiv looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by BC Kyiv's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mykolaiv made 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Brian Greene (196-83, college: Florida A&M) who helped to win the game recording 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import center James Hughes (211-83, college: N.Illinois) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. The former international forward Oleg Saltovets (202-77) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and guard Oleksandr Lypovyy (200-91) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for BC Kyiv. Mykolaiv moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Ferro-ZNTU. BC Kyiv at the other side stay at the bottom position with 23 games lost. Mykolaiv is looking forward to face BC Odessa (#9) on the road in the next round. BC Kyiv will play against the league's second-placed BC Donetsk (#2) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
