There was a small surprise in Frankfurt where ninth ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners II (6-14) won against 6th ranked BG Illertal/Weissenhorn (9-11) 81-72 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But BG Illertal/Weissenhorn won third quarter 23-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Deutsche Bank Skyliners II forced 19 BG Illertal/Weissenhorn turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Falko Theilig (180-92) who scored 19 points and 9 assists. American forward Christopher Rojik (200-74, college: Holy Cross) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. American guard DeUndrae Spraggins (191-83, college: Tex.A&M-Comm.) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and center Michael Wenzl (209-91) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Deutsche Bank Skyliners II and four BG Illertal/Weissenhorn players scored in double figures. BG Illertal/Weissenhorn's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Deutsche Bank Skyliners II moved-up to eighth place in Group South, which they share with Gotha. Newly promoted BG Illertal/Weissenhorn keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Deutsche Bank Skyliners II will face Giessen Pointers (#10) at home in the next round.
