Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Giessen Pointers (5-15) were defeated on the road by fourth ranked Licher Baeren (15-5) 73-58 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Licher Baeren. Giessen Pointers was better in third quarter 18-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Giessen Pointers were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was power forward Peer Wente (203-77) who scored 24 points and 9 rebounds. Giessen Pointers' coach rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Licher Baeren have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in Group South, which they share with Leitershofen and NBC. Giessen Pointers lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth position with 15 games lost. Licher Baeren will face Leitershofen (#3) in Diedorf in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Giessen Pointers will play on the road against Deutsche Bank Skyliners II (#8) in Frankfurt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
