Regular Season Round 22: Utena - Fortuna 72-69

The most exciting game of round 22 in the LMKL took place in Utena. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Lemminkainen (12-6) to seventh ranked Utena (5-14) 72-69 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Lemminkainen was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Utena made 12 blocks. Power forward Kristina Palaimaite (191-81, college: Liberty) fired a double-double by scoring 10 points and 18 rebounds for the winners. Guard Agne Ziegyte (175-86) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Utena players scored in double figures. Forward Monika Grigalauskyte (187-92) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and the former international forward Rima Margeviciute (191-81, college: Liberty) added 11 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Utena have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place. Lemminkainen at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Utena are looking forward to face league's leader VICI Kaunas at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Lemminkainen will have a break next round.
