Rather predictable result in Istanbul where eighth ranked Darussafaka (8-9) defeated 12th ranked Izmir B.B. (1-16) 71-62 on Saturday. It was a great shooting night for Darussafaka especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Swingman Ziya Yarkan (193-88) stepped up and scored 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and American guard Brandon Gordon (201-85, college: Alabama St., agency: EM-PA) chipped in 11 points and 5 assists. Guard Orcun Topcu (183-81, agency: Diamond Athletes Agency) responded with 22 points, 8 assists and 5 steals and forward Omur Gokcepinar (196-80) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Darussafaka moved-up to seventh place in Group A, which they share with Final Genclik. Izmir B.B. lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Darussafaka will face Adanaspor (#10) at home in the next round. Izmir B.B. will play against the league's second-placed Vestel and will have a slim chance for a victory.
