Second Stage Round 6: Oradea - Iasi 65-58

Bottom-ranked Iasi (0-3) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their third consecutive match to fourth ranked Oradea (2-1) 65-58 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Iasi won third quarter 26-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Oradea dominated on the defensive end, holding Iasi to just 4 points in second quarter and to 13 points in first half. They outrebounded Iasi 46-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. Center Mihaela Adi (190-88) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Edith Sabau (175-87) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was center Doinita Panait (182-90) with 19 points and 8 rebounds and forward Claudia Panzaru (180) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Oradea moved-up to third place in A2 Group. Loser Iasi still closes the standings with three games lost. Oradea will face Brasov (#4) on the road in the next round. Iasi will play against Sp.Studentesc in Bucuresti and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
