Regular Season Round 18: Freiburg - Leipzig 62-65

Important game to mention about took place in Freiburg. Ninth ranked Leipzig Eagles (6-12) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Eisvogel Freiburg (9-9) 65-62 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Eisvogel Freiburg. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 65-62. Leipzig Eagles dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Eisvogel Freiburg's 38. They outrebounded Eisvogel Freiburg 38-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Candace Williams (183-88, college: New Hampshire) who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import forward Lacey Haughian (188-86, college: Black Hills St.) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Yvonne Turner (174-87, college: Nebraska) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and Bosnian power forward Mirna Paunovic (185-76) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Leipzig Eagles moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Oberhausen. Loser Eisvogel Freiburg keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. Leipzig Eagles will face Oberhausen (#8) at home in the next round. Eisvogel Freiburg will play against ChemCats Chemnitz.
