There was no surprise in Duesseldorf where 18th ranked Gloria Giants (3-18) were crushed by fourth ranked Artland Dragons (14-7) 91-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Artland Dragons. Gloria Giants was better in third quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Artland Dragons dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Gloria Giants' 24. They outrebounded Gloria Giants 44-23 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Tyrese Rice (185-87, college: Boston Coll., agency: Priority Sports) fired 27 points and 5 assists for the winners. The other American import center Darren Fenn (208-80, college: Canisius, agency: Limelight Hoops) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Four Artland Dragons players scored in double figures. Artland Dragons' coach Stefan Koch felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard DeAndre Haynes (187-84, college: Kent St.) produced 19 points and 4 assists and Lithuanian forward Laimonas Kisielius (203-85, college: William & Mary) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Artland Dragons moved-up to third place. Gloria Giants lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. Artland Dragons will face league's leader Brose Baskets in Bamberg in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gloria Giants will play on the road against New Yorker Phantoms (#5) in Braunschweig.
