Iasi has finally registered their first victory this season after three consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Sp.Studentesc (0-4) 65-50 on Friday. Iasi held Sp.Studentesc to an opponent 22.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 52.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Iasi had a 32-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Claudia Panzaru (180) fired 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Center Doinita Panait (182-90) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Ana Cuatu (175) produced 10 points and 6 rebounds and forward Adina Lovasz (184-91) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Iasi maintains fifth place in A2 Group with 1-3 record. It was Sp.Studentesc's fourth loss in a row. They still closes the standings with four games lost. Iasi will meet higher ranked Brasov (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sp.Studentesc will play against the league's second-placed Cluj Napoca and hopes to get finally their first victory.
