Regular Season Round 22: CSM Bucuresti - Otopeni 68-84

Date: February 19, 2011
There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Otopeni (12-10) defeated on the road 8th ranked CSM Bucuresti (11-10) 84-68. The game was mostly controlled by Otopeni. CSM Bucuresti was better in fourth quarter 22-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Otopeni forced 19 CSM Bucuresti turnovers. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Serbian guard Milan Medvedj (183-79) notched 22 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and American forward Cortney Scott (196-82, college: Oakland) supported him with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Otopeni players scored in double figures. Even 30 points (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) by Serbian power forward Branislav Tomic (205-80) did not help to save the game for CSM Bucuresti. American guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) added 5 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. CSM Bucuresti's coach Mladen Ostojic tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Otopeni moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Pitesti. CSM Bucuresti at the other side dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. Otopeni's next round opponent will be Politehnica Iasi (#14) at home and are hoping to win another game. CSM Bucuresti will play against the league's leader Ploiesti (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
