Very important is a road loss of third ranked Efes Pilsen (13-5) against sixth ranked Karsiyaka (11-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Efes Pilsen was defeated by Karsiyaka in a tough game in Karsiyaka 71-79. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Efes Pilsen. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Efes Pilsen won third quarter 14-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Karsiyaka made 24-of-29 charity shots (82.8 percent) during the game. Efes Pilsen was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Andre Smith (203-85, college: N.Dakota St.) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 6 rebounds. The other American import guard Osiris Eldridge (191-88, college: Illinois St., agency: N.E.T.) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Karsiyaka players scored in double figures. The former international guard Kerem Tunceri (190-79) replied with 22 points and Croatian center Nikola Vujcic (211-78) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Efes Pilsen. Efes Pilsen's coach Velimir Perasovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Karsiyaka moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Besiktas. Efes Pilsen at the other side dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Karsiyaka will play against Mersin (#15) in Akdeniz in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Efes Pilsen will play at home against Tofas (#13) in Bursa and hopes to get back on the winning track.
