Regular Season Round 16: CAB Madeira - Ovarense 81-63

Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Ovarense (8-8) and CAB (7-9), which took place in Funchal. Higher ranked Ovarense lost to ninth ranked CAB in a road game 63-81. It looked good early as Ovarense took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then CAB had a 19-10 second period charge getting the lead and Ovarense was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 63-81. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Jaime Silva (187-80) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 6 assists and international center Jorge Coelho (200-78) who added 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five CAB players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international center Nuno Cortez (205-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American forward Matthew Webster (203-84, college: Evansville) scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. CAB moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Ginasio and Sampaense. Ovarense at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Penafiel. CAB will play against higher ranked Academica (#3) in Coimbra in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ovarense will play at home against Vitoria SC in Guimaraes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
