Regular Season Round 18: Erdemir - Mersin 79-73

Rather predictable result when thirteenth ranked Erdemir (6-12) beat at home 15th ranked Mersin (4-14) 79-73. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Mersin won fourth quarter 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Erdemir had a 30-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Mike Hall (203-84, college: George Washington, agency: SportsTalent) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and power forward James Thomas (203-80, college: Texas) supported him with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Erdemir's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 16 points by guard Anthony Grundy (189-79, college: N.Carolina St., agency: Strategic Sports) did not help to save the game for Mersin. Guard Alex Scales (192-78, college: Oregon) added 13 points and 6 rebounds. Five Erdemir and four Mersin players scored in double figures. Erdemir moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Bornova and Tofas. Mersin at the other side keeps the fifteenth position with 14 games lost. Erdemir's next round opponent will be higher ranked Turk Telekom (#10) in Ankara and it may be quite challenging game. Mersin will play at home against Karsiyaka (#6).
