Leader Fenerbahce Ulker delivered the sixteenth victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed 11th ranked Bornova (6-12) 97-72 in Istanbul. The game was mostly controlled by Fenerbahce Ulker. Bornova managed to win fourth quarter 27-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fenerbahce Ulker dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Bornova's 42. Fenerbahce Ulker forced 21 Bornova turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Bosnian-Slovenian forward Emir Preldzic (206-87, agency: Beo Basket) scored 19 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and Lithuanian center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-79) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Fenerbahce Ulker's coach Neven Spahija felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Jamaican center Kimani Ffriend (211-77, college: Nebraska, agency: Court Side) with 19 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and the former international forward Umit Sonkol (206-82) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Fenerbahce Ulker (16-2) have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. Loser Bornova keeps the eleventh place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Erdemir and Tofas. Fenerbahce Ulker will meet bottom-ranked Oyak Renault (#16) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Bornova will play against Besiktas (#5) in Istanbul and hope to secure a win.
