Important game to mention about took place in Odessa. Ninth ranked BC Odessa (15-19) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Mykolaiv (16-16) 74-71 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mykolaiv. It looked good early as Mykolaiv took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then BC Odessa had a 30-13 second period charge getting the lead and Mykolaiv was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-74. BC Odessa made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Andrew Washington (191-84, college: Delaware) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 8 rebounds. Nigerian power forward Ejike Ugboaja (204-85) accounted for 6 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Washington is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard Justin Love (188-78, college: St.Louis) came up with 25 points and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and the other American import center James Hughes (211-83, college: N.Illinois) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Mykolaiv in the defeat. Four Mykolaiv players scored in double figures. Mykolaiv's coach Valentin Berestnev rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. BC Odessa have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain ninth place with 15-19 record. Mykolaiv at the other side keeps the sixth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Ferro-ZNTU and Kryvbasbasket. BC Odessa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mykolaiv will play on the road against Azovmash (#3) in Mariupol and hopes to get back on the winning track.
