An interesting game took place in Balikesir where higher ranked Botas (11-8) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked Burhaniye Bld (4-15) 78-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Botas. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-10. But Botas won second period 21-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Burhaniye Bld made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward LaToya Thomas (188-81, college: Mississippi St.) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 7 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Allyson Hardy (170-83, college: Bowie St.) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Brazilian center Alessandra De Oliviera (203-73) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Jolene Anderson (173-86, college: Wisconsin) added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Botas. Botas' coach Can Ozturk tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Burhaniye Bld maintains eleventh place with 4-15 record. Botas at the other side dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. Burhaniye Bld's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Fenerbahce in Istanbul and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Botas will play at home against Besiktas in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
