Rather expected game in Burgas where 5th ranked Beroe 07 (5-11) was defeated by third ranked Lukoil (11-5) 85-73. The game was mostly controlled by Lukoil. Beroe 07 was better in second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by American power forward Tamara Bowie (183-81, college: Ball St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds and Ukrainian-Russian guard Anna Sokolan (178-84) supported her with 22 points and 4 assists. Four Lukoil players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 28 points and 16 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) by American guard Juanita Ward (180-86, college: Syracuse, agency: Merit Sports) did not help to save the game for Beroe 07. International forward Neli Pasheva (175-81) added 11 points and 10 assists for lost side. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Beroe 07 at the other side keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Lukoil will play against Dunav (#4) in Ruse in the next round. Beroe 07 will play at home against the league's leader Montana 2003 and hopes to get back on the winning track.
