The most exciting game of round 8 in the D1 took place in Brasov. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Iasi (1-4) to third ranked Brasov (3-2) 55-53 on Wednesday evening. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 15-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was center Monica Ivan (184-81) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Raluca Ungureanu (180-80) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Center Doinita Panait (182-90) produced 21 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and forward Claudia Panzaru (180) added 8 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the guests. Brasov maintains third position in A2 Group with 3-2 record having ten points less than leader Satu Mare. Iasi at the other side keeps the fifth place with four games lost. Brasov are looking forward to face league's leader Alba Iulia at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Iasi will play against the league's second-placed Cluj Napoca (#2) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
