Regular Season Round 23: Kibirkstis-Tiche - Utena 55-63

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked MRU (7-12) lost to sixth ranked Utena (6-15) in Vilnius 55-63. It looked good early as MRU took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Utena had a 17-11 second period charge getting the lead and MRU was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 55-63. It was a great evening for center Giedre Kirstukaite (190-86) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Asta Daujadiene (176-73) helped adding 10 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Four Utena players scored in double figures. Center Inga Aleksaite (193-89) responded with 11 points and 9 rebounds and guard Greta Sniokaite (180-91) scored 18 points. Utena have a solid series of four victories in a row. Newly promoted Utena maintains sixth place with 6-15 record. MRU at the other side keeps the fifth position with 12 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
