Very predictable result when second ranked Galatasaray (15-4) won against 9th ranked Trabzonspor (8-11) in Istanbul 87-80. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. American guard Preston Shumpert (198-79, college: Syracuse) fired 14 points for the winners. Forward Caner Topaloglu (199-85) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Galatasaray's coach Oktay Mahmudi allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Ali Karadeniz (203-80, college: Arizona) produced 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and American-Nigerian forward Derrick Obasohan (199-81, college: Texas Arlington, agency: Beo Basket) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for Galatasaray. They maintain second place with 15-4 record having just two points less than leader Fener.Ulker, which they share with Banvit. Newly promoted Trabzonspor keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. Galatasaray's next round opponent will be Efes Pilsen (#4) in Istanbul.
