The game in Kaunas was also quite interesting. 4th placed Meresta (21-14) played at the court of fifth ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (20-15). Zalgiris-Sabonio defeated Meresta 78-62 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris-Sabonio. Meresta managed to win fourth quarter 16-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Meresta 44-31 including 31 on the defensive glass. Swingman Paulius Sorokas (198-92) nailed 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and forward Edgaras Ulanovas (198-92) accounted for 20 points. Zalgiris-Sabonio's coach Priit Vene allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Liudas Radavicius (188-88) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and guard Saulius Raziulis (183-76, agency: Court Side) added 9 points and 5 assists respectively for Meresta in the defeat. Zalgiris-Sabonio maintains fifth place with 20-15 record. Loser Meresta keeps the fourth position with 14 games lost. Zalgiris-Sabonio will again meet higher ranked Meresta (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Meresta will have a break next round.
