Regular Season Round 19: Balkan - Levski Sofia 84-103

An interesting game for Levski (16-4) which played road game in Botevgrad against 3rd placed Balkan (11-9). Second ranked Levski had an easy win 103-84. The game without a history. Levski led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Balkan's 36. They outrebounded Balkan 47-25 including a 35-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Aaron Harper (199-81, college: Mississippi, agency: Strategic Sports) who helped to win the game recording 27 points. International power forward Stefan Georgiev (206-78) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Levski's coach Konstantin Papazov used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Dimitar Filipov (185-89) answered with 13 points, 9 assists and 4 steals and international center Krum Doychinov (206-86, agency: Interperformances) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Balkan. Five Balkan players scored in double figures. Levski maintains second place with 16-4 record having four points less than leader Lukoil Academik. Balkan at the other side keeps the third position with nine games lost. Levski are looking forward to face Rilski Sportist (#4) in Samokov in the next round. Balkan will play on the road against the league's leader Lukoil Academik in Sofia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
