Second Stage Round 3: BC Vienna - Wels 76-97
Date: February 26, 2011
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Wien. First ranked Raiffeisen Wels faced 3rd placed BC Vienna. Guests from Wels (14-11) smashed host BC Vienna (10-15) 97-76. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 97-76. The best player for the winners was American guard Rasheed Brokenborough (191-76, college: Temple, agency: Impact Basketball) who scored 34 points (!!!). The former international forward Davor Lamesic (205-83, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 19 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Stjepan Stazic (199-78, agency: World Sport Agency) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists and Bosnian-Croatian center Alen Trepalovac (214-85, agency: World Sport Agency) added 10 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Raiffeisen Wels maintains first place in Bundesliga with 14-11 record. Loser BC Vienna keeps the third position with 15 games lost. Raiffeisen Wels will face Worthersee Piraten (#6) in Klagenfurt in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. BC Vienna will play on the road against the league's second-placed UBSC Graz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
