The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Meresta's (22-14) home victory over 5th ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (20-16) in Pakruojis 61-47 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 38-23 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Meresta forced 20 Zalgiris-Sabonio turnovers. Guard Simonas Slivka (194-86) notched 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and power forward Thomas Druktenis (203-78) supported him with 9 points and 6 rebounds. Even 9 points and 5 rebounds by center Gediminas Zyle (209-88) did not help to save the game for Zalgiris-Sabonio. Forward Vaidas Kariniauskas (198-93) added 10 points for the guests. Zalgiris-Sabonio's coach Priit Vene tested eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. Meresta moved-up to third place, which they share with Mazeikiai. Loser Zalgiris-Sabonio keeps the fifth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Nafta Universitetas. Meresta will meet Nafta Universitetas (#5) in the next round. Zalgiris-Sabonio will play against the league's second-placed Radviliskis and hope to secure a win.
