Eleventh-ranked Halychyna (12-24) was very close to win a game against seventh ranked Kryvbasbasket (17-17) in Krivoy Rog on Sunday. Kryvbasbasket managed to secure only three-point victory 81-78. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 27-22 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Kryvbasbasket looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. International power forward Igor Zaitsev (211-89) nailed 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and the former international forward Dmitry Korablev (198-77) accounted for 22 points and 4 assists. Kryvbasbasket's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Todd Abernethy (185-84, college: Mississippi) came up with 16 points and 6 assists and the other American import forward Alan Wiggins (206-84, college: USF) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Halychyna in the defeat. Kryvbasbasket maintains seventh place with 17-17 record. Loser Halychyna keeps the eleventh position with 24 games lost. Kryvbasbasket will meet at home league's second-placed BC Donetsk in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Halychyna will play against DniproAzot (#10) in Dniprodzerzhynsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
