Regular Season Round 19: Banvit BK - Antalya 95-93

Eighth-ranked Antalya (9-10) was very close to win a game against third ranked Banvit (15-4) in Balikesir on Sunday. Banvit managed to secure only two-point victory 95-93. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-11. But Antalya won second period 28-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Banvit shot 66.7 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Banvit especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by Antalya helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Azerbaijan forward Charles Davis (202-84, college: Alabama) who helped to win the game recording 30 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). The former international guard Baris Ermis (194-85) contributed with 9 points, 6 rebounds, 15 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Banvit's coach Orhun Ene used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Bradley Buckman (203-84, college: Texas) answered with 28 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard Gerrod Henderson (192-78, college: Louisiana Tech) added 22 points and 6 assists in the effort for Antalya. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Banvit moved-up to second place, which they share with Galatasaray. Antalya at the other side keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Banvit is looking forward to face Erdemir (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Antalya will play against Aliaga and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
