BV Chemnitz 99 managed to secure a 8-point victory 87-79 on Friday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Webmoebel Baskets. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-13. But Webmoebel Baskets won second period 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BV Chemnitz 99 made 26-of-34 free shots (76.5 percent) during the game. BV Chemnitz 99 outrebounded Webmoebel Baskets 36-25 including 23 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was naturalized Afghani guard Achmadschah Zazai (177-86) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 assists. American guard Gary Johnson (188-82, college: Cent.Florida) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Four BV Chemnitz 99 players scored in double figures. American guard Kejuan Johnson (193-85, college: Long Beach St.) produced 21 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Martin Samarco (191-85, college: Bowling Green, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) added 23 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for BV Chemnitz 99. They maintain third place with 16-7 record having six points less than leader B.Muenchen. Loser Webmoebel Baskets keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. BV Chemnitz 99 will meet at home USC Freiburg (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Webmoebel Baskets will play against USC Heidelberg (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
