Not a big story in a game in Bursa where 15th ranked Mersin (4-16) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Tofas (7-13) 82-73. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-17. But Mersin won second period 24-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Mersin 38-20 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. American swingman Austin Nichols (198-82, college: Humboldt St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import guard Jason Rowe (178-78, college: Loyola (MD)) contributed with 13 points and 8 assists for the winners. Four Tofas players scored in double figures. Tofas' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Nedim Yucel (203-79) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and American swingman Vincent Grier (195-83, college: Minnesota, agency: SportsTalent) added 16 points and 4 steals in the effort for Mersin. Tofas moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Erdemir. Mersin lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 16 games lost. Tofas' next round opponent will be higher ranked Turk Telekom (#10) in Ankara and it may be quite challenging game. Mersin will play at home against the league's second-placed Galatasaray (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
