Very expected game when 9th ranked Istanbul B.B. (8-12) was defeated at home by second ranked Vestel (15-5) 74-64 on Saturday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Vestel made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American power forward Arthur Johnson (206-81, college: Missouri) who scored 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks. Swingman Hakan Erol (200-83) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Vestel's coach Murat Polat used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Center Ibrahim Daloglu (203-84) produced 16 points and 5 rebounds and guard Erden Eryuz (188-80) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Istanbul B.B. players scored in double figures. Vestel maintains second position in Group A with 15-5 record having just three points less than leader Optimum TED. Loser Istanbul B.B. keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost. Vestel will face league's leader Genc Banvit in Balikesir in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Istanbul B.B.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Darussafaka.
