Very expected game when 9th ranked Istanbul B.B. (8-12) was defeated at home by second ranked Vestel (15-5) 74-64 on Saturday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Vestel made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American power forward Arthur Johnson (206-81, college: Missouri) who scored 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks. Swingman Hakan Erol (200-83) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Vestel's coach Murat Polat used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Center Ibrahim Daloglu (203-84) produced 16 points and 5 rebounds and guard Erden Eryuz (188-80) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Istanbul B.B. players scored in double figures. Vestel maintains second position in Group A with 15-5 record having just three points less than leader Optimum TED.
