LKL top team - Zalgiris (18-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed thirteenth ranked Alytus Alita (2-15) 100-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Alytus Alita. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Alytus Alita's 40. They outrebounded Alytus Alita 48-26 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a quality performance for the former international guard Mantas Kalnietis (196-86, agency: Interperformances) who led the winners and scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas (205-89) accounted for 18 points for the winning side. Five Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Zalgiris' coach Elias Zouros felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Aurimas Birgelis (190-88) came up with 17 points and center Marius Janisius (203-77) added 7 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Alytus Alita in the defeat. The victory was the eighteenth consecutive win for Zalgiris. They maintain first place with 18-0 record. Alytus Alita at the other side stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Zalgiris will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Alytus Alita will play at home against Perlas (#7) in Vilnius and hopes to get back on the winning track.
