Very expected game when 10th ranked Turk Telekom (8-12) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Karsiyaka (13-7) 101-86. The game was mostly controlled by Karsiyaka. Turk Telekom was better in fourth quarter 29-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Karsiyaka players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American forward Andre Smith (203-85, college: N.Dakota St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import guard Osiris Eldridge (191-88, college: Illinois St., agency: N.E.T.) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four Karsiyaka players scored in double figures. Slovenian-Italian guard Sani Becirovic (195-81) replied with 19 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and American power forward KZell Wesson (201-77, college: La Salle) added 8 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Turk Telekom. Turk Telekom's coach Faruk Akagun rotated eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. Karsiyaka have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Besiktas. Turk Telekom lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. Karsiyaka's next round opponent will be higher ranked Banvit (#3) in Balikesir and it may be quite challenging game. Turk Telekom will play at home against Tofas (#12) in Bursa.
