Eleventh-ranked Erdemir (7-13) gave a tough game to third ranked Banvit (16-4) on Saturday. The visitors from Balikesir managed to secure only six-point victory 98-92. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Erdemir. Erdemir was tied after three quarters and then recorded another tie at the end of regular time. They were eventually defeated in overtime 4-10s. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Baris Ermis (194-85) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 assists. American guard Keith Simmons (196-85, college: Holy Cross, agency: Interperformances) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. American-Lebanese swingman Antwain Barbour (196-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Court Side) produced 22 points and 5 assists and American forward Mike Hall (203-84, college: George Washington, agency: SportsTalent) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Five Banvit and four Erdemir players scored in double figures. Banvit moved-up to second place, which they share with Galatasaray. Loser Erdemir keeps the eleventh position with 13 games lost. They share it with Tofas. Banvit will meet at home Karsiyaka (#6) in the next round. Erdemir will play against Aliaga (#14) and hope to secure a win.
