The game between fourth ranked Mazeikiai (23-15) and 5th ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (21-17) in Mazeikiai on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Mazeikiai outscored guests from Kaunas 100-59. The game without a history. Mazeikiai led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Zalgiris-Sabonio's 42. Mazeikiai forced 22 Zalgiris-Sabonio turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Mazeikiai especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Zalgiris-Sabonio's players. It was a very good performance for American swingman Jason Warren (201-84, college: Missouri Western) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Vitalijus Luksa (206-86) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Warren is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Mazeikiai players scored in double figures. Mazeikiai's coach Aloyzas Rudys felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Zygimantas Skucas (200-92) replied with 12 points and 6 rebounds and center Mindaugas Kupsas (215-91) added 14 points in the effort for Zalgiris-Sabonio. Mazeikiai maintains fourth position with 23-15 record. Loser Zalgiris-Sabonio keeps the fifth place with 17 games lost. Mazeikiai will face Nafta Universitetas (#5) in Klaipeda in the next round.
