Very expected game when 8th ranked Perlas-MRU (16-22) was smashed by third ranked Meresta (24-14) in Pakruojis 87-61 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-61. Meresta dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Perlas-MRU's 30. Quite impressive performance for guard Tomas Balciunas (186-79) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Saulius Raziulis (183-76, agency: Court Side) contributed with 18 points and 6 assists for the winners. Forward Tadas Padegimas (201-90) replied with 16 points and forward Karolis Brusokas (200-91) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Perlas-MRU. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Meresta have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 24-14 record having just -10 point less than leader Pieno Zvaigzdes. Perlas-MRU lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 22 games lost. Meresta will face league's leader Pieno Zvaigzdes in Pasvalys in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
