Date: March 5, 2011
The game between Top Four teams took place in Vilnius. Second ranked host Lietuvos Rytas (16-2) smashed 4th placed Juventus (11-7) 100-79. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Juventus. The game without a history. Lietuvos Rytas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for center Jonas Valanciunas (210-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). International swingman Simas Jasaitis (202-82) helped adding 18 points. Center Vaidas Cepukaitis (207-89, agency: Interperformances) responded with 13 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and forward Arunas Vasiliauskas (201-85) scored 17 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lietuvos Rytas have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 16-2 record having just two points less than leader Zalgiris. Juventus at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Lietuvos Rytas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Juventus will play on the road against Sakalai (#12) in Vilnius and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
