Everything went according to plan when tenth ranked Istanbul Universitesi (6-15) outplayed on the road bottom-ranked Alanya BLD (2-19) 74-53 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Istanbul Universitesi. Alanya BLD was better in second period 12-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Istanbul Universitesi dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Alanya BLD's 34. Istanbul Universitesi had a 38-27 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Ashley Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Okeisha Howard (165-81, college: ODU) contributed with 9 points and 7 assists for the winners. Canadian power forward Miranda Ayim (191-88, college: Pepperdine) answered with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks and American guard Yasemin Kimyacioglu (170, college: Santa Clara) added 9 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Alanya BLD. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Istanbul Universitesi moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Ceyhan Bld. Alanya BLD lost seventeenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 19 lost games. Istanbul Universitesi will face higher ranked Mersin (#8) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alanya BLD will play against Ceyhan Bld (#9) in Adana.
