Regular Season Round 17: Chavdar - Sportist Svoge 92-86

The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked Chavdar's (4-11) home victory over 10th ranked Sportist Svoge (3-13) 92-86 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-16. But Sportist Svoge won third quarter 28-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Sportist Svoge 53-30 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Chavdar looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Guard Petar Hristov (194-90) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists for the winners and forward Petar Lalev (196-77) chipped in 29 points and 9 rebounds. Chavdar's coach Perat Petrov used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Zlatko Zapryanov (199-87) responded with 24 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Dimitar Stanislavov (190-84) scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Chavdar and four Sportist Svoge players scored in double figures. Chavdar maintains ninth place with 4-11 record. Sportist Svoge lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. Chavdar will meet league's leader Dunav 2007 in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sportist Svoge will play against NSA (#7) in Sofia and hope to secure a win.
