Regular Season Round 20: Galatasaray - Anadolu Efes 80-64
Date: March 6, 2011
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Galatasaray (#3) and Efes Pilsen (#4). Galatasaray (16-4) smashed visiting Efes Pilsen (14-6) by 16 points 80-64. Efes Pilsen was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Croatian center Luksa Andric (210-85, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording 23 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American guard Preston Shumpert (198-79, college: Syracuse) who added 13 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. International power forward Kerem Gonlum (208-77) responded with 10 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Ronald Murray (193-79, college: Shaw) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Galatasaray have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Banvit. Efes Pilsen at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Galatasaray is looking forward to face Mersin (#15) in Akdeniz in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Efes Pilsen will play at home against Trabzonspor (#9) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
