There was no surprise when 13th ranked Alytus Alita (2-17) was crushed at home by eighth ranked Perlas (7-11) 76-56 on Thursday. Perlas dominated on the defensive end, holding Alytus Alita to just 5 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Alytus Alita's 30. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Perlas made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of center Tautvydas Slezas (207-90, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 10 points and 9 rebounds and forward Saulius Kulvietis (203-91) who added 9 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Perlas players scored in double figures. Perlas' coach Roberts Stelmahers used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was forward Paulius Kleiza (195-88) with 13 points and 8 rebounds and center Saulius Dumbliauskas (203-81, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: Court Side) scored 10 points. Perlas moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Neptunas. Alytus Alita lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Perlas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Alytus Alita will play against Techasas (#6) in Panevezys and hope to secure a win.
