Regular Season Round 41: Zalgiris-Sabonio - LKKA-Atletas 57-76

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kaunas: LKKA-Atletas (#7) and Zalgiris-Sabonio (#6). Zalgiris-Sabonio was crushed at home by 19 points 57-76 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by LKKA-Atletas. Zalgiris-Sabonio managed to win second period 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. LKKA-Atletas made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was guard Sarunas Vingelis (192-89) who scored 17 points and 7 assists. Forward Vidmantas Sragauskis (200-86) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four LKKA-Atletas players scored in double figures. Swingman Paulius Sorokas (198-92) produced 16 points and 8 rebounds and center Mindaugas Kupsas (215-91) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Zalgiris-Sabonio's coach Priit Vene let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. LKKA-Atletas (21-18) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Nafta Universitetas and Zalgiris-Sabonio. LKKA-Atletas will meet at home Nafta Universitetas (#7) in the next round. Zalgiris-Sabonio will play against the league's leader Pieno Zvaigzdes in Pasvalys and hope to secure a win.
