A very interesting game took place in Ankara. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 9th ranked Turk Telekom (8-13) to twelfth ranked Tofas (8-13) 93-92 in the game for the ninth place. The guests were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 36-25 Turk Telekom's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 93-92 at the end of the game. 29 personal fouls committed by Turk Telekom helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Jason Rowe (178-78, college: Loyola, MD) nailed 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and swingman Austin Nichols (198-82, college: Humboldt St.) accounted for 22 points. Guard Jerome Randle (178-87, college: California) came up with 22 points and 6 assists and power forward KZell Wesson (201-77, college: La Salle) added 14 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Turk Telekom in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Turk Telekom's coach Faruk Akagun tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Tofas moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Trabzonspor and Turk Telekom. Turk Telekom lost their fourth game in a row. Tofas' next round opponent will be higher ranked Banvit (#3) in Balikesir and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
