Top ranked Fenerbahce Ulker (18-3) recorded its third loss in Istanbul on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Besiktas (14-7) 92-84. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Fenerbahce Ulker. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-19. But Fenerbahce Ulker won third quarter 25-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Besiktas made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Besiktas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Australian center Andrew James Ogilvy (211-88, college: Vanderbilt) who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Mire Chatman (187-78, college: UTPA, agency: Higher Vision Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 assists. Besiktas' coach Ergin Ataman used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Croatian guard Roko-Leni Ukic (195-84) who recorded 13 points and 5 assists and the former international guard Omer Onan (194-78) added 15 points respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Besiktas have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 14-7 record, which they share with Karsiyaka. Defending champion Fenerbahce Ulker still keeps top position with three games lost. Besiktas is looking forward to face Trabzonspor (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Fenerbahce Ulker will play against Olin Edirne (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
