There was no surprise when 8th ranked Perlas-MRU (17-23) was defeated on the road by third ranked Mazeikiai (25-15) 86-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Mazeikiai. Perlas-MRU was better in third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mazeikiai dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Perlas-MRU's 32 and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Bryan Harrison (188-84, college: Georgia Coll.) who scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Forward Dainius Vaitelis (201-86) chipped in 18 points. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Evaldas Lengvinas (190-89) who recorded 15 points and 8 rebounds and guard Paulius Semaska (179-93) added 11 points and 5 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Mazeikiai have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 25-15 record having just -10 point less than leader Pieno Zvaigzdes. Loser Perlas-MRU keeps the eighth place with 23 games lost. Mazeikiai will face Meresta (#4) in Pakruojis in the next round. Perlas-MRU will play at home against LKKA-Atletas (#5) in Kaunas.
