Regular Season Round 19: Montana 2003 - Levski 81-79

The most exciting game of round 19 in the NBL took place in Montana. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Levski (12-7) to fourth ranked Montana 2003 (13-6) 81-79 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Levski. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 29-22. But Levski won second period 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for the former international forward Jeanetta Zhelyova (182-75) who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds. The former international guard Ivelina Vrancheva (175-80) helped adding 19 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side forward Radoslava Bachvarova (183-87, college: Va Commonwealth) responded with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Natalia Topalova-Shopova (187-80) scored 25 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Montana 2003 keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Lukoil and Dunav. Newly promoted Levski dropped to the fourth place with seven games lost. Montana 2003 is looking forward to face league's leader Dunav in Ruse in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Levski will play on the road against the league's second-placed Lukoil in Burgas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
