Regular Season Round 18: Academik BL - Academik PL 82-107

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Academic Blagoevgrad (1-16) was crushed at home by third ranked Academik Plovdiv (11-3) 107-82. It looked good early as Academic Blagoevgrad took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Academik Plovdiv had a 28-21 second period charge getting the lead and Academic Blagoevgrad was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 82-107. Academik Plovdiv players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. It was a good game for forward Martin Horozov (200-86) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists. Forward Dimitar Horozov (198-82) contributed with 32 points for the winners. Four Academik Plovdiv players scored in double figures. Forward Boyan Tenev (205-88, college: Lincoln Memorial) replied with 27 points and 5 assists and the former international forward Yavor Ivanov (195-84) added 17 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Academic Blagoevgrad. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Academik Plovdiv have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Academic Blagoevgrad at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Academik Plovdiv will play against Sportist Svoge (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Academic Blagoevgrad will have a break next round.
