Regular Season Round 21: Aliaga - Erdemir 80-75

There was a small surprise when fourteenth ranked Aliaga (6-15) defeated at home 12th ranked Erdemir (7-14) 80-75 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-75. Aliaga dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Erdemir's 32. The best player for the winners was Latvian center Kaspars Kambala (206-78, college: UNLV, agency: Alti Sport) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Michael James (184-75, college: Duquesne) chipped in 20 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Lebanese swingman Antwain Barbour (196-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Court Side) who recorded 21 points (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and the former international guard Hakan Demirel (192-85, agency: 1x1 Sports) added 15 points and 6 assists respectively. Erdemir's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Aliaga moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Bornova. Loser Erdemir keeps the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Aliaga will face higher ranked Karsiyaka (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
